Yee Haw....

Last week the kids and I went to Texas for a family reunion. I don't get to see my family in that part of the country very often and always look forward to visiting. Unlike any other trip, this was probably the toughest and most difficult. I had a two year old and a one year old in a very non child proofed home. And anytime you take a vacation with kids it's difficult because their schedules get all wacked out!!! The kids did really well considering.

This was also a very sentimental trip because my grandma's house is going to be sold. There are A LOT of memories in that house (50 some years) and I often thought about my dad living there as a little boy. My grandparents had that house before he was born. My grandma is now 87 years old, my grandfather and an uncle have passed away. But the thing that always touched me when I was in that house was knowing that they all lived there, they walked the hall, sat in that living room and slept in the bedrooms from newborns to high school age. Visiting that house helped me feel connected to a time that I never knew.

My Grandpa pitched from this mound while my dad and his friends would hide under the bleachers collecting bottles to turn in for cash

I'm going to miss that house too. My favorite memories are from the time we drove down there for Dad's reunion. I think you were 12 and I was 10. We went to Uncle James' house, Seaworld etc. Fun fun memories. Almost like an end of an era. :-(
